We are honored to carry Vaughn & Stephanie Rawson's Whimsical Whittler carvings. "Early American Life" continues to list the Rawsons in their "Top 30 Holiday Artisans".
The Rawson's founded the Whimsical Whittler wood carving studio in 1989 specializing in Santas, holiday figures and other American inspired folk art. The husband-wife team are known for their highly detailed carving and painting of basswood using traditional tools. Each piece, often made of many smaller carvings, is painted in muted colors and finished to reflect aged patina. These sometimes traditional and other times whimsical pieces are based on extensive research in antique books, postcards and drawings. Some pieces are one-of-a-kind and others are limited editions. They have been featured in many magazines and publications, including "Better Homes and Gardens Santa Collection" as Master Crafters and in the new edition of Early American Life.
